Why we built Folyah
Because they can’t tell us — and we still have to get it right.
If you love a pet, you know this feeling. Something is off — a meow, a vomit, a look — but they can’t say what. You live with them every day and still, in the moment that matters, you’re guessing.
They trust you with everything they have.
They’re not small humans. You can’t ask “where does it hurt?” and get an answer. So you watch. You Google. You lie awake wondering if you’re overreacting — or if waiting until morning is the mistake you’ll regret.
And sometimes that trust feels heavy.
We tried everything. It still wasn’t enough.
When ChatGPT came out, I was grateful — genuinely. For the first time, I could ask something at 11 p.m. when my mind was spinning. It helped. A lot.
But it never knew my pets.
Every time I needed help, I had to start over — names, breeds, ages, diets, meds, what happened Tuesday, what the vet said in March. Or I’d explained before, but the memory didn’t grow with my cats. I’d mix pet questions with random everyday chat. Then when Pumpkin was sick and I needed real answers, the context was messy. Not a pet home. Just noise.
What I needed wasn’t another chat window. I wanted a place that knew my family — and stayed with us as their story changed, day by day, year by year.
That place didn’t exist. So we built it.
The night I’ll never forget
Last year, my cat Pumpkin — we call him Pangpang — started vomiting. Once a day. Every day.
- Days 1–2 Probably a hairball. We watched. We told ourselves it was fine.
- Day 3 He spit out something that looked like a metal stick.
- Midnight ER. Intake forms. Three hours waiting. Hands shaking. Minds going blank on details we know but couldn’t pull up under stress.
- 3 a.m. The vet asked when it started, how often, what changed, what he ate — buried in daily life, impossible to recall cleanly while panicking.
- 4 a.m. We went home without him. Pangpang stayed at the clinic for the X-ray.
- 8 a.m. The vet called. The X-ray was clear — no metal inside him. Come pick him up.
- After pickup My husband and I had two different versions of what we were supposed to do next.
We cried in the car on the way to get him anyway — relief and exhaustion mixed together. He remembered the dosing. I remembered the follow-up. We both loved Pangpang. We both listened. We both tried. And still we walked away with half a plan each.
What if we’d had one place that already knew him — that captured the vomiting from day one, helped us prepare before we walked in, and walked us home with one clear story, not two frightened versions?
That night wasn’t rare. It was just the night that finally broke my heart enough to build something.
What we’re building for you
Folyah is the companion I wished had been sitting next to me in that waiting room.
Not generic advice. Not “here’s what cats usually do.” Your pet. Your history. Your moment.
A dedicated space for your pet family — one that remembers who they are, logs what happens in their daily life, and grows smarter as they grow older. You don’t maintain it like a spreadsheet. You don’t re-teach it every week. You just live your life with your pets — and when something happens, the story is already there.
- So when you ask at 2 a.m. — is this normal? should we go tonight? — you’re not alone with a blank search bar.
- When you walk into the vet, you’re not scrambling to remember what changed when.
- When you walk out, you’re not piecing together discharge instructions from two tired brains.
We’re not replacing your veterinarian. We’re giving you something they can’t be at 3 a.m. in your kitchen: a calm, knowing presence that loves your pet too — because it actually remembers them.
You shouldn’t have to carry this alone
If you’ve ever sat in an ER wondering if you failed them by waiting… If you’ve ever held a discharge paper and felt unsure what to do at home… If you’ve ever wished someone — something — would just know your pet the way you do…
This is for you.
We’re pet parents too. We built Folyah from a night we never want another family to face without backup. Pangpang is why we started. Your cat, your dog, your rabbit, your 3 a.m. panic — that’s how we make this real.
So what is Folyah?
Folyah is a mobile app — an AI chat workspace built only for pet parents. You talk to it in plain language (type or paste photos). No forms to fill out first. It remembers each pet in your family and turns everyday conversations into a living health record.
- Chat at home — describe symptoms, diet changes, or worries; Folyah asks gentle follow-ups and helps you decide what to do next.
- Automatic logging — what you share becomes a timeline (symptoms, meds, weight, vet visits) you can review anytime.
- Before the vet — get a structured pre-visit summary to share by link or QR code.
- After the vet — discharge instructions and home care plans in plain language, plus reminders so nothing slips.
It’s not a replacement for your veterinarian. It’s the companion between visits — on your phone, whenever you need it. See how it works on the homepage →
